The Philippines is gearing up to welcome delegates from the ten ASEAN Member States (AMS) for the First Organizing Committee Meeting (1st OCM) prior to the 14th WorldSkills ASEAN Competition 2025 (WSASEAN2025) to be held in Manila, Philippines.

The 1st OCM, held a year prior to the competition, convenes delegates from all 10 AMS (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam). Its agenda encompasses defining the competition’s parameters, establishing rules and procedures, selecting jury members, and deciding on future hosts. Delegates will also be treated to a Heritage Tour in Manila.

The 1st OCM is set to take place on August 19-22, 2024 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in the city of Pasay. It will also be the venue for the WorldSkills ASEAN Philippines 2025 happening in August 2025.

The WorldSkills ASEAN Competition, held biennially, is the biggest vocational education skills excellence event in the ASEAN region that truly reflects global industry. The competition aims to promote and upgrade skills standards in the ASEAN region to an international level, as well as to motivate youths to develop their skills to meet international standards and current technology.

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is tasked with spearheading the prestigious event in collaboration with various government agencies, educational institutions, industry partners, and community organizations. Hosting the WorldSkills ASEAN Competition in the Philippines reflects the country’s commitment to promoting skills development and driving economic growth and workforce competitiveness across the ASEAN region.
